Medals to the Icelandic team at the Culinary Olympics

The successful Icelandic Culinary Team won four medals at the Olympics. A gold and a silver medal for the Culinary Art Table, a silver medal for the Hot Kitchen and a bronze medal for the overall Culinary Pastry Art. The team used haddock and langoustine for the hot kitchen.

Promote Iceland and Iceland Responsible Fisheries assisted in the organization and reception of German chefs who came to Iceland recently, to learn about all the good food produce in Iceland. The main emphasis was on fish and fisheries. The group visited among other places Westman Islands and Reykjavík.

Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI)

The Iceland Responsible Fisheries Management (IRFM) Certification Program applied earlier this year for GSSI recognition and has been benchmarked against the GSSI Global Benchmark Tool. GSSI is a global platform and partnership of seafood companies, NGOs, experts, governmental and intergovernmental organizations.

People visiting the festival can experience Iceland and learn about the country, as a source of quality bacalhau, a place to visit, its food culture, and its music. The Minister of Industry and innovation, Mrs. Ragnheidur Elin Arnadottir will visit the festival, as well as Ambassador Thordur Aegir Oskarsson, and the Mayor of Grindavik, Robert Ragnarsson.
