GSSI Recognition of the IRFM Certification Programme
On 8 November 2016 the GSSI Steering Board announced its recognition of the IRFM Certification Programme.

Cod fishery granted continued IRF certification
The Icelandic cod fishery (Gadus morhua) has been granted continued IRF certification by Global Trust. The fishery is assessed against the recently revised version of the Iceland Responsible Fisheries Management (IRFM) Standard 2.0.
IRFF Chain of Custody standard accredited
The Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) has announced the accreditation of the IRFM Chain of Custody Standard.
Golden redfish fishery is granted continued IRF certification
Global Trust has granted the Icelandic Golden redfish fisheries, first certified in 2014, continued IRF certification. The Assessment Report covers the Annual Surveillance for the Golden redfish to the recently revised version of the IRFM Standard.
Medals to the Icelandic team at the Culinary Olympics
The successful Icelandic Culinary Team won four medals at the Olympics. A gold and a silver medal for the Culinary Art Table, a silver medal for the Hot Kitchen and a bronze medal for the overall Culinary Pastry Art. The team used haddock and langoustine for the hot kitchen.

The Icelandic Culinary Team, which is ranked in top ten in the world, is competing at the IKA Culinary Olympics in Germany 22-25 October.
German Chefs explore Icelandic Seafood
Promote Iceland and Iceland Responsible Fisheries assisted in the organization and reception of German chefs who came to Iceland recently, to learn about all the good food produce in Iceland. The main emphasis was on fish and fisheries. The group visited among other places Westman Islands and Reykjavík.
Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI)
The Iceland Responsible Fisheries Management (IRFM) Certification Program applied earlier this year for GSSI recognition and has been benchmarked against the GSSI Global Benchmark Tool. GSSI is a global platform and partnership of seafood companies, NGOs, experts, governmental and intergovernmental organizations.
Iceland is guest country at the cod festival in Ilhavo 17-21 August
People visiting the festival can experience Iceland and learn about the country, as a source of quality bacalhau, a place to visit, its food culture, and its music. The Minister of Industry and innovation, Mrs. Ragnheidur Elin Arnadottir will visit the festival, as well as Ambassador Thordur Aegir Oskarsson, and the Mayor of Grindavik, Robert Ragnarsson.
