The Iceland Responsible Fisheries Foundation (IRFF) is the standards owner and the IRFF Technical Committee is responsible for writing, issuing and reviewing the IRFM Standard and the IRFM Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard.
The following standard is based on the 1995 FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and on the FAO Guidelines for the Ecolabelling of Fish and Fishery Products from Marine Capture Fisheries (2005/2009). It is designed to be practical and will offer guidlines for best practice.

To meet the Chain of Custody requirements and get certified, applicants must be able to demonstrate compliance with the IRFM Chain of Custody Standard.
